Max Lapierre has been one of the Penguins biggest surprises through two playoff games. He’s played with a pest demeanor, something that was missing from him during the regular season and he’s been relieved on heavily in the face-off circle in the defensive zone. In game 1, Lapierre was 8-11 on d-zone draws, in Game 2, he was still above 50% in going 8-15. Lapierre struggled head-to-head against Derrick Brassard winning just two of eight d-zone draws vs Brassard.
Overall through two games, Lapierre is 16-26 (62%) on d-zone draws. One thing Lapierre is very good at is cheating on draws. It took until the third period for the refs to finally start kicking him out of the circle. As many minor penalties the Penguins have taken, Lapierre has none.
