Steelers announce the signing of Brett Keisel
Mike Tomlin announced the signing of Brett Keisel this afternoon. Tomlin who pushed for the Steelers to re-sign Keisel, is very pleased to see Keisel with the Steelers long-term.

G Darnell Stapleton (placed on injured reserve)
*The Steelers are now down to 75 and will have to make an additional 22 roster cut by September 5th.
Starters likely to play a series or two
Ben Roethlisberger will start for the Steelers Thursday night and will likely play a series or two. Mike Tomlin indicated that the starters playing time has not been determined
Parker, Reed and Eason questionable
Running back Willie Parker, kicker Jeff Reed and defensive end Nick Eason are expected to play against the Panthers. All three players are on the “UP” according to Tomlin. For now they are listed as questionable.
Kick/Punt return units undetermined
Mike Tomlin indicated the kick and punt return units for Thursday have not been determined to this point but did indicate Stefan Logan will be in the mix.
Fox to start for Timmons?
The status for linebacker Lawrence Timmons is unkown. If Timmons is unable to go, Keyaron Fox will start in his place.
Steelers to explore the free agent wire
The absence of Darnell Stapleton makes Doug Legursky a lock to make the roster. Stapleton was a valuable asset because of his versatility.
Tomlin did not rule out the Steelers exploring the free agent wire to replace Stapleton.
