Could the Pirates and Angels strike a deal before the deadline?
The LA Angels remain in the hunt for Orioles closer George Sherrill but with talks at an impasse, the Angels have also been kicking the tires on Pirates closer Matt Capps.
The Angels eye either player as an eighth inning set-up man.
The Pirates top priority is to add a right handed power bat and they have been extensively scouting Trumbo over the past month, according to industry sources.
The 6-4, 220 lbs 1st baseman hit 32 homeruns for the Angels Class A affiliate last season.
The Pirates would also want a pitching prospect included into any deal.
The Angels are also interested in Pirates reliever John Grabow.
