Scott emerging as Fosters top competition
When healthy Ramon Foster has been solid in camp but he’s getting pushed in camp by an up and coming lineman in 2nd year pro Chris Scott.
Scott who the Steelers coaching staff is extremely high on, has excellent size at 6-foot-4, 320-pounds and he’s entering a big couple weeks as the Steelers coaching staff has yet to see him in game situations after being injured for the first nine weeks of last season.
Scott in the eyes of many team insiders has surpassed Doug Legursky as Ramon Foster’s top competition for the starting right guard job.
Legursky has the more football smarts but lacks the kind of devastating size that Foster (6-6, 325 lbs) and Scott covet. The coaching staff also feels that Legursky’s a better center and the tape showed that last season.
Scott also provides versatility with the ability to play tackle although through the early stages of camp, his best position is guard.
