Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was at the Steelers facility today and on the practice field but Ben did not practice. Roethlisberger will not practice on Wednesday but he has not been ruled out for practice on Thursday. Very good news on that front.
If Roethlisberger were to have a set back next week, the vibe I’m getting is the players are very confident with Leftwich at the helm for a game. Despite the loss to Tennessee in week 16, the Steelers have the swagger they had going into the 2005 playoffs. Mike Tomlin is keeping them very focused on their goal.
There’s talk that the Steelers
would love to see Miami in the divisional round. What a story line it would be with Joey Porter coming to town. Would be a lot of trash talking.
A number of Steelers veterans players did not practice today. James Harrison, James Farrior, Aaron Smith, Troy Polamalu, Ryan Clark and Hines Ward.
I’m still hearing LaMarr Woodley remains a bit limited due to a calf injury. He has gone four games without a sack.
Ryan Clark status is still up in the air for next Sunday’s game but I was told he is telling people he will be able to play.
Limas Sweed might have killed his chance to see any playing time in the playoffs unless there is an injury to one of the Steelers top three receivers. Sweed had a couple penalty calls against him. Sweed has been practicing very well but the coaching staff doesn’t trust him.
There is no chance that Dick Lebeau would go to New York if Bill Cowher becomes the Jets coach. Lebeau has a very good relationship with Tomlin. Kevin Colbert is another story. More on this the next couple days.
