Players to watch this week
1.Nicklas Backstrom is off to a slow start with only one assist in six games. Backstrom is now paired with Alexander Semin (6 goals this season). Expect Backstrom to breakout this week.
I’m in five different fantasy hockey leagues and once Miroslav Satan was moved to the third line last week, Satan was dropped in three out of the five leagues. Satan leads the Penguins with 4 goals and he’s being used as a situational player getting power play minutes. Keep him
Player to pick up
1. NYR Aaron Voros – Voros has five goals and nine points in eight games; his career best (last season) is 14 points in 55 games. Voros is now owned in 70% of the leagues on ESPN. If he is still on the waiver wire pick him up. He has value playing on the Rangers second line. Voros and Brandon Dubinsky (6 assists) have showed instant chemistry
Player to drop
Chris Drury – 1 point in 9 games and a team leading -4. Playing on a line with Scott Gomez and Markus Naslund can’t get him going, I don’t know what will
Tonight’s Fantasy Buzz
San Jose vs Philadelphia
PHI RW Joffrey Lupul (0 points in 5 games) – Lupul is very inconsistent and you may wait to hold onto him but I would explore your trade options
SJ D Christian Ehrhoff (2 goals – 3 assists Р5 pts). Ehrhoff is available in 60% of the leagues on ESPN. He is averaging over 20 minutes of ice time per game. If I had to pick a Sharks defenseman other than Dan Boyle, Ehrhoff would be my pick. For fantasy value I like him much more than Rob Blake.
