Islanders forward Bill Guerin nixed a trade to Pittsburgh earlier this month when the two teams were close to finalizing a trade and talks don’t be appear to be close to re-starting. Despite the coaching change, Guerin doesn’t have much interest in joining Pittsburgh and it is very unlikely that Pittsburgh will initiate talks again.
A source tells me the two teams haven’t had any discussions in almost 17 days
The market for Guerin is not as strong as Islanders GM Garth Snow thought it would be, a reason Snow was ready to move forward with the Penguins deal that would have netted the Islanders a third round pick and a roster player.
Guerin has 16 goals – 19 assists – 35 points on the season.
