Penguins, Islanders talking?
According to multiple sources, the Penguins, Canucks, Rangers, Blackhawks and Bruins remain in discussions with the New York Islanders about forward Bill Guerin. The Islanders who had an scout in attendenace during the Canadiens-Penguins game, remain in constant contact with the Penguins and are believed to be interested in forward Pascal Dupuis who signed a three year deal prior to the season.
The talks have centered around Dupuis/roster player/3rd round pick. Defensemen Philippe Boucher and Mark Eaton are the two names being mentioned as the other roster player going the other way. The Isles do have more interest in Eaton than Boucher according to a source while the Pens prefer to move Boucher who has fallen to 8th on the depth chart.
The Penguins have made it known they will not move any assets for rental players, they are willing to move Dupuis, if a deal is able to be worked out between the two sides.
Guerin who has a NTC is believed to be willing to waive his no trade clause to Pittsburgh, Boston, Chicago, NYR, and Edmonton.
