Assistant coach changes not being rule out?
The Pittsburgh Penguins are conducting their organizational meetings this week and word out of Pengins headquarters is that we could see a change or two involving the coaching staff.
Head coach Dan Bylsma is obviously safe but Mike Yeo, Tony Granato and goaltending coach Gilles Meloche are all being evaluated by management this week.
Mike Yeo who the front office likes, has one year left on his contract. Yeo signed a three year contract following the 2007-2008 season.
Yeo is regarded inside the organization as an up and coming coach and his job is not believed to be in any jeopardy.
Tony Granato who runs the penalty kill and forwards, has one year left on his contract, plus a team option for the 2010-2011 season.
Granato did a phenomenal job with the Penguins penalty kill during the regular season but has drawn some criticism throughout the organization regarding his work with the forward lines.
Meanwhile, Gilles Meloche is the coach under the most heat. It’s kind of laughable that Meloche is taking heat for Fleury’s struggles but he is.
Meloche is an extremely hard worker scouting the opposition but the Penguins may look for a new voice to work with Fleury.
