Chief Woodrow W. Blue Jr., the police chief in Milledgeville, Georgia handling the sexual assault allegation against Pittsburgh Steelers star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger held a press conference today and the investigation is on-going.
No charges have yet to be filed. Mr. Blue indicated that he has been in contact with Roethlisberger’s lawyer and they are setting up an interview with Roethlisberger in the next 2-3 days.
Roethlisberger has not been interviewed since Friday morning.
They are anticipating up to 8 interviews this week with witnesses from the alleged incident.
“The investigation is ongoing, It would be premature to make any announcement at this time. When the facts are in, and a decision is made, we will let you know.”
Steelers President Art Rooney issued a statement prior to the 4:00 p.m. press conference.
“All of us in the Steelers family are concerned about the recent incident involving Ben Roethlisberger in Georgia, ” Mr. Rooney said. We cannot comment on any of the specifics until law enforcement’s investigation is concluded. Certainly, we will continue to closely monitor the situation.”
