PENGUINS (28-3-0, 46 PTS) @ ISLANDERS (13-14-3, 29 pts)
The Penguins look to extend their winning streak to 11 games tonight vs the New York Islanders who are an NHL-worst 5-10-2 at home.
The Penguins will do so without Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang once again. Malkin who had been pushing to return tonight, will miss his seventh straight game and could return Sunday night vs the Philadelphia Flyers.
Letang also made the road trip but is not yet ready to return after skating the past couple days. Letang is dealing with a nagging left leg injury.
Letang leads all NHL defensemen with 28 points and is third in`the NHL with 25 assists.
Tomas Vokoun (7-3-0, 2.88 GAA) will get the start in goal tonight for the Penguins. In addition to Malkin and Letang, Robert Bortuzzo is expected to be scratched for the 11th straight game.
The Islanders three points out of the final playoff spot, have dropped two straight, losing to Montreal 5-2 last night as a rested Penguins team comes to town. The Penguins are an impressive 12-4-0 on the road. Pittsburgh’s last road loss was February 28th vs the Carolina Hurricanes.
