The Pittsburgh Penguins have opened up contract talks with Craig Adams on a new deal, an NHL source tells Inside Pittsburgh Sports.
Substantive talks began on Thursday afternoon and the Penguins have expressed an interest to Adams in resigning him, the source says.
Adams, 36, had 3 goals and 9 points in 48 games.
A deal could get done quickly and by the weekend, the source said. Adams a strong penalty killer, is a favorite of head coach Dan Bylsma.
Adams made $650,000 last season.
The Penguins have also been discussing deals for Pascal Dupuis and Matt Cooke. A deal with Dupuis was not close as of Thursday evening.
