The Pittsburgh Penguins have a deal in place to acquire Dallas Stars captain Brenden Morrow, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
Morrow has to waive his no trade clause for the deal to become official and if Morrow waives his no trade clause to Pittsburgh, which he is expected to do, the Penguins will be paying a steep price for Morrow as top prospect Joe Morrow will be apart of the deal going to Dallas.
Other players could also be apart of the deal.
The Penguins have been aggressively scouting Morrow in the past two to three weeks.
Morrow has 6 goals and 11 points in 29 games and is an excellent leader. Morrow fits exactly what the Penguins sought, a player who can play on the third line and fill in on Evgeni Malkin’s left wing.
In 78 career post-season games, Morrow has 17 goals and 25 assists in the post-season.
Defenseman Joe Morrow was the Penguins 2011 first round pick but has become expendable due to the Penguins selection of Derrick Pouliot in the 2012 draft, who the Penguins regard as their best puck moving defenseman in the system.
Morrow has four goals and 11 assists in 57 games for the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins.
