With the Penguins off until Monday, there was no reason to keep Dustin Jeffrey up with the big club and take away potential playing time in the minors.
Therefore, the team this morning re-assigned the 22 year forward to Wilkes Barre/Scranton.
Jeffrey, 22, appeared in three games with Pittsburgh this season. He recorded his first career two-point game with a goal and an assist Dec. 11 at Buffalo.
Jeffrey got the bulk of his minutes on the 4th line with Mike Rupp and Craig Adams.
Meanwhile, the Penguins expect Chris Kunitz to return to the ice this week and play Monday night against Phoenix.
