Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan is giving Tristan Jarry every chance he can down the stretch here. After being pulled in the first period of Tuesday’s 6-1 loss with a 4-save performance, Jarry will get the start tonight vs the Buffalo Sabres. How the Penguins evaluate Jarry’s run here as it pertains to next season remains to be seen. For those on lottery watch this one has some ramifications:

Buffalo (29-35-6, 64 pts) enters tonight’s game with the 5th worst PT% in the NHL. However, a Sabres regulation win would see Buffalo with 11 games remaining after tonight playing at a 76-point pace. Pittsburgh (69 pts, .473 PT%) with a regulation loss would also be a 76-point pace but with just eight games remaining.

  • Defenseman Ryan Shea returns to the lineup
  • Evgeni Malkin will miss his second straight game
