The Pittsburgh Penguins selected center Jake Guentzel (5-9, 153) in the third round with the 89th overall selection in the NHL entry draft. Guentzel a smallish center, had 29 goals and 73 points in 60 games for Sioux City of the USHL. The 18 year old is committed to University of Nebraska-Omaha.
Guentzel was the No. 80th ranked player by Central Scouting.
One scout on Guentzel tells me, he plays a well rounded two-way game and has “excellent vision and anticipation” with the puck. The feet need to improve the scout said.
