The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed defenseman Alex Goligoski to a three year contract. It is a one way contract.
Goligoski, 23, had six goals and 14 assists in 45 games with the Penguins this season and was scheduled to be a Restricted Free Agent on July 1.
It has been confirmed that the deal is worth $5.5 million over 3 years. Goligoski will be paid $1.25 million in 09-10, $1.5 million in 10-11 and $2.75 million in 11-12.
Pittsburgh is also currently in talks with
defenseman Ben Lovejoy on a two year deal. Lovejoy is eligible to be a Restricted Free Agent on July 1.
There has been some talk from sources close to the situation that Lovejoy is seeking a one way contract. Lovejoy is regarded as the Penguins top defensive defenseman in Wilkes Barre and also has some offensive upside.
Pittsburgh now has $48.69 million committed to 15 players for the upcoming season.
The projected cap is expected to be $56.7 million.
