The Pittsburgh Penguins are hiring Jim Rutherford as General Manager. An announcement is expected to be made today. It was first reported by TSN’s Bob McKenzie.
Rutherford, 65, recently stepped down as General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes. Carolina has not made the playoffs since 2009.
Rutherford’s name was immediately rumored to be on the Penguins shortlist when Ray Shero was fired 21 days ago but things had been very quiet on him until a few days ago when he interviewed with Penguins ownership on Monday.
