It has been 18 years since the last time Syracuse and Penn State have met. Syracuse might want to wait another 18 after this game. Penn State comes into this game fresh off a dismantling of Oregon State last Saturday in Beaver Stadium. The Nittany Lions have not seen an offensive outburst like this since the days of the Kerry Collins-led ’94 team. The offense is averaging 55.5 points per game and 524 yards per game total offense which includes 573 yards on the ground. Evan Royster will lead the running attack that plans on exploiting the Syracuse rush defense that has given up 487 yards to the likes of Northwestern and Akron.
Syracuse will try and run the ball with RBs Curtis Brinkley and Delone Carter who are averaging 6.4 yards per carry. The Orange will need to control the clock and keep the high-powered Nittany Lions offense off the field.
Analysis
This game used to be a one that was circled¬†when the schedule came out. This week it will be one the Orange will want to scratch off. Penn State will be able to run the ball at will and the defense might spend more time in Syracuse’s backfield than on the sidelines.
Penn State 56-7
