The good news on the Max Talbot front is that the team doesn’t appear very concerned about the injury. He is being evaluated and head coach Dan Bylsma said Talbot will travel with the team to Columbus. Sounds like just a bruise at this point.
However, with Talbot’s status up in the air and Evgeni Malkin banged up last night along with Mike Comrie not available, the Penguins are considering a callup at the forward position for tomorrow night’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Dan Bylsma called Dustin Jeffrey (11G-16A-27Pts) and Tim Wallace (8G-9A-17Pts) the two standouts this season in Wilkes Barre but I’m hearing the likely callup would be..
Ryan Craig in event of just having an extra body up here. Bylsma called Craig a definite consideration.
It’s not likely that the Penguins will bring up Jeffrey to sit and watch.
When asked of players who are sticking out in Wilkes Barre, other than Jeffrey, Wallace and Craig, Bylsma mentioned Brett Sterling (8G-8A-16pts) and Nick Johnson (4G-7A-11pts) to a lesser extent. Bylsma sort of hesitated when talking about Johnson’s play.
I was surprised not to hear Bylsma mention Joe Vitale who is having an excellent season, leading all forwards with a plus-10 rating.
