MALKIN A GOOD BET TO REPEAT AS ART ROSS TROPHY WINNER IF THERE’S A SEASON?
If the NHL ends up having a 48 game season, coaches, evaluators, ect, feel those currently playing overseas are going to have an advantage over those who are currently not playing and just training with other players.
That’s why players like Brooks Orpik have been advocating for a few preseason games (not likely) to happen if a deal is struck, but that’s considered unlikely. For those reasons, odds say Evgeni Malkin should have a great shot at claiming back to back Art Ross Trophy awards.
The big thing for Malkin is that he would be in game shape and he’s playing very well for Metallurg, collecting 22 goals and 40 assists for 62 points in 36 games. Malkin is a plus-21 on the season and is averaging 1.72 points per game.
Malkin ranks 2nd in the KHL in scoring.
The last player to win back to back scoring titles was Jaromir Jagr who won four straight from 1997-1998 through 2000-2001.
