The Penguins (16-7-4) have reeled off two straight road wins but the team has received mixed news on the injury front tonight
The good news for the Penguins is that Zbynek Michalek and Kris Letang both passed their concussion tests, head coach Dan Bylsma confirmed after tonight’s 3-2 win vs the Hurricanes. However, Letang is still dealing with some issues and likely won’t be an option to return until Thursday night vs Philadelphia. Zbynek Michalek is expected to be a possibility to play Monday night vs Boston.
Meanwhile, the status of Jordan Staal and Deryk Engelland is up in the air for Monday night. Staal took a puck just below his eye in the third period and was in a lot of pain as he exited the ice. At this point the Penguins don’t believe there is any structure damage but Staal will obviously be further evaluated.
The Penguins also lost Deryk Engelland to a lower body injury. The Penguins had no update on the extent of Engelland’s injury. He will be evaluated tomorrow
Pittsburgh got goals from Craig Adams (3), Arron Asham (2) and Pascal Dupuis (8) netted the game winner. Brent Johnson earned his second win of the season and the Penguins PK was huge in the final seconds withstanding a 6 on 3.
