In his MLB debut, pitching phenom Stephen Strasburgh struck out 14 leading the Washington Nationals to a 5-2 win Tuesday night over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
On Wednesday night, two of the Pirates top prospects will make their MLB debuts against the Nationals.
Pitcher Brad Lincoln (6-2, 3.16 ERA), will start for the Pirates, making his MLB debut after the Pirates optioned first baseman Jeff Clement to Triple-A Indianapolis and designated for assignment reliever Jack Taschner.
The other big news of the night is that the Pirates will callup left fielder Jose Tabata from Triple-A Indianapolis, according to a team source.
Tabata is batting .308 with 3 home runs and 18 RBI’s. Tabata has 23 stolen bases in 52 games and is the Pirates top outfield prospect in their system.
