Laroche batting .100 in the month of July
Starting first baseman Adam Laroche is in the midst of a 1-23 slump and with the trade deadline 11 days away, that doesn’t bode well for the Pirates hopes of trading the impending free agent.
Batting .244 on the year with 12 home runs, LaRoche snapped an 0-for-22 streak on Sunday but grounded into an eighth-inning double play with a three-and-zero count at the plate, while the Pirates were down, 4-3.
The only known team to express an interest in Laroche has been the San Francisco Giants. It’s believed their interest has cooled.
Defensively Laroche has been solid in the field and could be a quality player off the bench for a contending team but the Pirates are going to have to eat atleast half of his salary if they want to have any hope of moving him.
