For the second straight year, Francisco Liriano will be the Pirates opening day starter. Liriano will get the start April 6 at the Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati. Liriano will be the first Pirate pitcher since Oliver Perez (2005-2006) to start consecutive Opening Days.
Gerrit Cole will start the second game vs the Reds, followed by A.J. Burnett. The Pirates then travel to Milwaukee for a three game series.
The Pirates have set their rotation up for Cole to start the home opener against Detroit on April 13.
