The Pittsburgh Pirates today signed catcher Rod Barajas to a one year deal with a club option for 2013. The deal is worth $4 million. The 36 year old catcher hit just .230 last year with the LA Dodgers but could bring some pop to the Pirates lineup.

Barajas belted 16 home runs and drove in 47 RBI’s last season. Barajas has hit 50 home runs in the past three seasons, the third most among catchers. One scouted via text praised the signing for the Pirates.
