Top forward prospect Ville Koivunen had a career night, netting 3 goals and 1 assist for his first career hat trick of his AHL career in Wilkes Barre’s 6-3 win over the Toronto Marlies. Koivunen scored 1:08 into the game off a nifty zone entry and added a beautiful goal off the rush at 13:15 of the first period to tie the game at 2-2. Koivunen would cap off the three-goal game with an empty net goal late in the third period. Koivunen averaging 0.9 points per game through 30 games, continues to impress with dynamic 1-on-1 offense and vision the Penguins are extremely confident will translate to an impact role in the NHL next season. The 21-year-old has six goals in his last seven games. To read this insider news, subscribe to get “Inside Access”!
