Two of the Penguins top-5 prospects, Scott Harrington, 2011 2nd rd pick, and Derrick Pouliot, 2012 1st round pick, have been invited to Team Canada’s World Junior Camp.
Harrington a defensive minded defenseman, made the team last year, working as the No. 6/No. 7 defenseman. He’s a plus-10 in 30 games for the London Knights this season and is expected to make the team again.
Pouliot, a gifted puck moving defenseman, enters camp as a longshot to make the team in the eyes of most pundits. Pouliot has 25 points (6 goals, 19 assists) in 27 games for the Portland Winterhawks and has a plus-17 rating. Pouliot is 4th among WHL defenseman in points.
Team Canada invited 12 defensemen to camp.
