Penguins GM Ray Shero and Steven Bartlett, the agent for Tyler Kennedy are said to be growing optimistic about reaching a deal before Kennedy hits the open market on July 1.
“Still hopeful”, Bartlett said on Wednesday, indicating this week that his focus remains on getting a deal done with the Penguins.
Is that now becoming a reality?
Late into Wednesday night, progress is said to being made between the two sides.
One source close to the situation said that the Penguins feel they are getting closer to a deal with Kennedy.
The two sides are believed to be discussing a two year deal worth close to $4 million but different options are also believed to be at play.
Kennedy has a rare opportunity in front of himself but his interest in returning is said to be strong.
