NFL rumors:

Antwaan Randle El Pittsburgh Steelers: After Randle El’s sensational performance at Super Bowl, he is about to cash in. Rumors are swirling around that Chicago has made it clear they have serious interest in obtaining the speedy wr/pr/qb. Chicago needs a # 2 receiver to offset Mushin Muhammad and with 18 million in cap room they are expected to over pay for Randle El. Pittsburgh doesn’t have the cap room and will not over pay for Randle El even if they wanted to…. Possible Destinations 1.Chicago 60%, 2.Pittsburgh 30% and 3.New England 10% is also rumored to be very interested.

Ken Whisenhunt offensive coordinator Pittsburgh Steelers: Whisenhunt arrived today in Oakland to interview for the coaching vacancy. It is obvious Oakland is going to offer him the job so it’s just a matter of time until he accepts or declines it.
– my take: Oakland is a tough place to coach with owner Al Davis down your back 24/7 but they do have a strong nucleus on offense with Lamont Jordan at rb, and Randy Moss , Jerry Porter at wr. Well know by friday either way. my prediction is he stays with the steelers

Sean Alexander RB, Seattle Seahawks: Alexander has said for the past two years that he wants a fair deal from the Seahawks. Seahawks have not come forward then so I don’t see them coming forward now with the 2005 M.V.P now 28. Possible Destinations 1. Arizona, 2.Minnisota, 3.Seattle, 4.NYJ, 5.Pittsburgh?

Daunte Cullpepper Qb, Minnisota Vikings: The franchise quarterback had a dismal season before getting injured and he has approached management saying that he wants more money after signing a 100 million dollar deal last offseason. Could be a tactic that he wants out. If the Vikings do trade their disgruntled Qb, the possible destinations are: 1.Oakland, 2.Miami, 3.Arizona, 4.Ravens?

Terrell Owens WR,: Possible destinations, 1.Broncos, 2.Cheifs, 3.NYJ, 4.Miami, 5.Buccaners
– my take: Word is that the Broncos have the insider track at obtaining T.O. How happy would he be catching passes from Jake the “mistake” Plummer. That would be a mess from opening day but strong possibility it will happen. My prediction he ends up in Miami or Tampa Bay makes a run late at him.

NHL rumors:

Sergei Gonchar D, Pittsburgh Penguins: It has been well known for months that the Pens are trying to unload his salary. Word is that the New York Rangers are interested. Possible Deal Gonchar salary 5m, for Defenseman Tom Poti 2.8m and a 3rd round pick.
– my take: chances of happening 65%. If this deal were to happen it wouldnt happen until right up to the trade deadline. The Rangers are hanging on to a first place lead in the Atlantic Division and if they dont hit a losing skid after the Olympic break i see this deal having a slight chance at happening.

Keith T’kachuk LW, St.Louis Blues: The Blues are dumping payroll after trading away Doug Weight and Mike Sillenger and T’kachuk looks like he will be next. Possible Destinations rumored are: La Kings, Atlanta Thrashers and New York Rangers.

Keith Primeau C, Flyers: Primeau got word on monday that he will not be able to return this season with concussion like symptoms. The Flyers are struggling of late but are stong at center. Rumors flying around is they may bring back Mark Recchi for some veteran leadership.

Jose Theodore G, Montreal Canadians: Theodore has struggled mightily this season and with a salary of 4.5 million a year the Canadians have thrown his name around if there are on takers. Rumored destinations, Edmonton, Anaheim and Vancouver
– my take: Montreal would be foolish to give up on him. 3 years ago he was the M.V.P of the league, so don’t expect a trade to happen.

Marty Biron G, Buffalo Sabres: solid goaltender who did win 14 straight starts early in the season but somehow is on the trade block. That’s because of young phenom Ryan Miller. Possible destinations: Edmonton, Vancouver: Prediction – Edmonton

Penguins 35 pts VS Bruins 55 pts tonite 7:38

This Penguin team is by far the worst Pens team that I have seen since I have started watching hockey. I ve never seen a pro team with such bad fundamentals. On Monday against Ottawa there was a situation when there a 2 on 2 against Whitney and Jackman. Smolinsky took a shot and Jackman and Whitney both took the same guy who was crashing the net and the puck was just laying in front for the 3rd guy Chara to poke it in. It was just pathetic. I expect to see a bonehead mistake like that from Jackman but not Whitney a 1st round pick. Offensively other than Crosby and sometimes Recchi, no one can create their own play. This team has got to take some chances offensively and have their D-man jump into the play to turn 2 on 2’s into 3 on 2’s like what you see from teams like Ottawa.
-My prediction for tonites game is this sorry bunch ends their 6 game losing streak with a strong 4-2 showing in front of the home crowd.
