On January 10th, I reported the New York Rangers would make a play for Rob Scuderi in free agency if he hits the open market and it appears the Rangers have made an inquiry about Scuderi’s availablity.
According to a report
in Newsday, the New York Rangers are looking for help on defense and Scuderi is among a number of players the Rangers are interested in.
The paper lists players of interest: Kyle McLaren (San Jose), David Hale and Derek Morris (Phoenix), Sean O’ Donnell (Los Angeles), Adrian Aucoin (Calgary), Daryl Sydor (Dallas), Ville Koistinen and Greg Zanon (Nashville), Jordan Leopold (Colorado), Niclas Havelid (Atlanta) and Ryan Whitney and Rob Scuderi (Pittsburgh).
Rangers have had interest for sometime
The Rangers have had an interest in Scuderi for sometime. Unless the Penguins become sellers on March 4th, I don’t expect him to be going anywhere, especially to a division rival.
Also don’t look too much into any talk of Ryan Whitney going to the Rangers. They have inquired about but any talk of a Prucha – Whitney swap is ridiculous.
