The chances of Wandy Rodriguez (6-4, 3.59 ERA) returning this season took a major hit last week when he suffered pain in his forearm during his simulated game/batting practice. Rodriguez, though, received positive news during his dreaded visit to Dr. James Andrews. Michael Sanserino of the Post-Gazette reports that Rodriguez’s meeting with Dr. Andrews went so well that Rodriguez’s rehab assignment could be “coming soon”. Rodriguez last pitched on June 5th with what the team has called forearm tightness. Rodriguez has a $13 million player option for 2014, with the Pirates being responsible for $7.5 million of that total. |
