Apparently there’s been some rumors since Sunday that the Penguins have a deal in place with Mike Rupp on a 2 year deal worth $875,000.
Those rumors are not accurate at all.
Negotiations between agent Allan Walsh and GM Ray Shero have been off and on for a few weeks now but the two sides are not there on a base salary.
Word is the Penguins are not willing to offer much of a raise over Rupp’s previous salary of $850,000.
That has been a stumbling block thus far in talks. Walsh is said to have went into talks looking for at least $1 million per season.
The Penguins were able to bridge a gap with Craig Adams and Rupp is going to have to come down on his asking price and make the concession. Based on his desire to stay in Pittsburgh, I’d expect him to do so soon.
