Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders will be shutdown from camp activities for two-to-three weeks, the Steelers wide receiver said today when speaking with the media.
Sanders who had surgery on his left foot about four months ago, has been dealing with a left foot issue that has concerned the Steelers, which led the team to aggressively pursue Plaxico Burress.
Sanders claims the injury is not that big of a setback and that he expects to play in the final two preseason games. The Steelers though are said to be worried.
The injury to Sanders open up another opportunity for Limas Sweed to make some noise in camp. However, Sweed has to find a way to stay healthy. He is already dealing with a hamstring injury.
There have been rumblings for a few days that the Steelers are looking at the wide receiver position in free agency but would have to find someone on the cheap. Antwaan Randle El could become an option but there’s been unconfirmed rumors that he failed his physical last Tuesday.
