Tuesday’s Scout Watch
The Pittsburgh Penguins have sent their big guns to Ottawa tonight to scout the Islanders-Senators game at Scotiabank centre.
The Penguins have two scouts in attendance, including one high ranking member of their scouting staff.
Speculation obviously centers around Alexei Kovalev who the Penguins have been mulling the possibility of making a play for.
Senators GM Bryan Murray has been in daily contact with GM Ray Shero, sources say. The Penguins though have yet to make an organizational decision to move forward in talks for Kovalev. The Penguins also have interest in Jarkko Ruutu.
Meanwhile, some in the local and national media have called Islanders winger PA Parenteau a perfect fit in Pittsburgh. One league contact laughed at the possibility of Islanders GM Garth Snow even taking a call from Pens GM Ray Shero.
