Pro-day buzz
Despite Ben Roethlisberger’s legal troubles and ownership not backing him like they did last summer, the Pittsburgh Steelers have stated they have no intention of taking a quarterback high in the draft. Although it is unclear what route ownership will take if Roethlisberger is charged, the Steelers are not expected to make any drastic moves at the quarterback position.
With pro-days winding down, the Steelers have been scouting a few quarterback targets in the mid-rounds this week.
On Tuesday, quarterbacks coach Randy Fichtner attended the pro day for Ole Miss QB Jevan Snead and a league source tells me the Steelers were in attendance today for the pro day of Central Michigan QB Dan LeFevour.
LeFevour threw for 12,905 yards and 102 touchdowns during his four years at Central Michigan and also rushed for 2,948 yards and 47 touchdowns.
LeFevour is regarded as a 5th-6th round pick but is an under-rated prospect according to one scout.
Snead out of Ole Miss threw for 20 touchdowns and 2,632 yards in 2009. Snead is regarded by some evaluators as a third round prospect.
On Tuesday the Steelers were also represented at North Carolina’s pro-day.
Kyle Jolly, Aleric Mullins, Cam Thomas and E.J. Wilson worked out for teams.
