Due just over $4.71 million this coming season, Brown receives $68 million in new money per Adam Schefter of ESPN, averaging out to $17 million over four years.
The Steelers had prioritized getting a long-term deal done with Brown during combine week so the team could get to other pressing issues prior to free agency on March 9.
Pittsburgh officially placed the franchise tag on Le’Veon Bell today. The two sides have yet to dive into serious talks on a long-term extension and if an extension happens, it’s not expected to come until the summer.
The Steelers plan to make attempts to resign Landry Jones, Lawrence Timmons before free agency begins.
