Friday’s Injury Buzz
Participating fully in practice this week, there has been no setbacks for star linebacker LaMarr Woodley who was on a tear prior to injuring his hamstring on October 30th vs the New England Patriots.
The injury knocked Woodley out of the lineup for over a month, missing the Steelers last three games and the second half of the New England game.
The Steelers have just 24 sacks on the season. From October 9th through October 30th, Woodley had 20 tackles, 7.5 sacks and 1 interception. Woodley has 9 sacks on the season and is looking to collect 10 sacks or more in all four seasons.
From a starters standpoint on both sides of the ball, the Steelers will be at full strength vs the Bengals..
Troy Polamalu and Maurkice Pouncey will both play vs the Bengals.
Emmanuel Sanders had his foot injury flare up this week but the Steelers on Thursday were just being cautious with him. The team expects him to play and work as the No. 3 receiver and primary kick returner.
The Steelers also expect Stevenson Sylvester to play. He practiced all week and is good to go after missing the Kansas City game due to a knee injury.
One player who is iffy is Larry Foote who’s nursing a hamstring injury. The Steelers don’t believe the injury is a 4 week injury like Woodley’s was but the injury will likely knock Foote out of the lineup this Sunday.
Foote is officially listed as questionable.
Ruled out for this week is Arnaz Battle and Chris Carter. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was optimstic earlier in the week about Battle being a possibility to play this Sunday.
