MORNING STEELERS BUZZ

WARD TO HOLD PRESS CONFERNCE
Former Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward will hold a press conference this afternoon at 12:00 p.m. at the Steelers southside complex. Ward, the Steelers all-time leading receiver, was informed on February 29th that he would be cut at the start of the league year after 14 NFL seasons with the Steelers. Ward has expressed a strong interest in playing next season but not one team has expressed interest in Ward for even the veteran league minimum through a week into free agency.
It’s not clear yet if Ward’s press conference will be a retirement announcement or just Ward having a platform to thank the Steelers organization, fans, ect.
ALL QUIET ON WALLACE
A week into free agency and no team has made an attempt to sign restricted free agent Mike Wallace. That isn’t a surprise but the media keeps trying to find a new suitor. As the likes of San Francisco and New England signed receivers that don’t cost a first round pick, the latest team to surface on the rumor mill is the Denver Broncos with the signing of Peyton Manning. Once the Manning deal is official, the Broncos will still have the cap space to make a splash and they need to start surrounding weapons around Manning in the passing game. The Broncos also have a late first round pick which would make Wallace an intriguing possibility but there’s a slim chance the Broncos brass regards Wallace as a player who’s worth a first round pick. No team has so far, and that’s unlikely to change.

HILL TO VISIT STEELERS
The Pittsburgh Steelers are scheduled to host Indianapolis Colts tight end Anthony Hill today for a free agent visit. Hill, 27, was the Houston Texans 4th round pick in 2009. He played last season for the Indianapolis Colts and also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2010. Hill brings little to the table in the passing game with 3 career receptions but he’s regarded as a strong blocker and has good size at 6-foot-6, 277-pounds. The Steelers have been looking for depth at the tight end position so far in free agency. They looked into Kellen Davis last week who resigned with the Bears and yesterday the Steelers signed former West Virginia tight end Will Johnson to a reserve/futures contract, Geoff Coyle of WVU Illustrated first reported.
GAY VISITING TITANS TODAY
William Gay has attracted interest from four to five teams and after visiting the Arizona Cardinals on Monday, Gay is scheduled to visit the Tennessee Titans today.
