Upgrading the interior of their offensive line is a strong priority for the Steelers in April’s draft
The Steelers have already brought in Pitt Center C.J. Davis and Penn State center A.Q. Shipley for visits but both are seen as late round picks and wouldn’t have muh impact in 2009.
A player who could have an impact in 2009 is Louisville center Eric Wood. According to Scout.com, Louisville center Eric Wood will visit the Steelers, Browns and Bengals in the next couple weeks. The Steelers are expected hold a private workout for Wood on April 6th according to the report.
Wood, 6-foot-4, 310-lbs is projected as a late first round/second round pick and has been on the Steelers radar for some time. The Steelers were seen speaking to Wood at the NFL combine. The Steelers are believed to be intrigued by Wood as a center and guard.
Wood has the size that would make him a ideal center in the AFC North.
