The Pittsburgh Steelers are bringing back Jonathan Dwyer, the team’s leading rusher in 2012. Ed Bouchette of the Post-Gazette first reported the news.
The Steelers yesterday lost Larod Stephens-Howling for the season with a knee injury and the team only rushed for 32 yards on 15 carries.
Dwyer who probably should not have been cut in the first place, was due $1.3 million which also played a factor in the Steelers releasing him last week. Dwyer will now sign for the league minimum (non-guaranteed contract) and should be given the chance to be the starter this week in Cincinnati.
Dwyer last season rushed for 122 yards on 17 carries in 24-17 win over the Bengals on October 21.
