The Pittsburgh Steelers have struck a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, acquiring running back Felix Jones in exchange for linebacker Adrian Robinson.
Jones was the Cowboys first round pick in 2008, taken ahead of Rashard Mendenhall with the 22nd overall selection. He’s been a contributor but his career has never taken off to the point that many thought it would when he was a first round pick.
In 2012 Jones rushed for 402 yards and 3 touchdowns, averaging 3.6 yards per carry. In his career (all with the Cowboys) Jones has rushed for 2,728 yards and 11 touchdowns and has a career mark of 4.8 yards per carry. Jones has 127 career receptions.
He was in the mix for the Eagles No. 3 running back spot prior to today’s trade and was considered unlikely to make the team.
Jones is nothing close to the player he use to be and he will get a quick look but is no lock to make the Steelers roster.
