SOUTHPOINTE — In an expected move, the Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned forward Cal O’Reilly, the team announced this morning.
O’Reilly will report to Wilkes Barre/Scranton.
O’Reilly a healthy scratch the last three games, was claimed on re-entry waivers Feb 1, but had little to no impact in six games with the Penguins, tallying one assist. A skilled passer, O’Reilly had just 1 shot on goal in his last four games.
With the return of Arron Asham last weekend, the Penguins feel their best lineup is a gritty lineup which sent O’Reilly to the press box.
The Penguins practice at 11:00 a.m. and Eric Tangradi remains up with the team. The team currently has 22 active players on their roster.
Notes: Tyler Kennedy who is recovering from a high ankle sprain, is participating in individual on-ice drills with strength and conditioning coach Mike Kadar. Kennedy who is currently on injured reserve, last played on February 5th. His timetable for recovery is considered 4 to 6 weeks and the Penguins expect him back at somepoint in March.
