As the Penguins map out next year’s roster, top forward prospects Ville Koivunen (20-33-53pts) and Rutger McGroarty (14-24-38pts) will be the highest upside forwards in the Penguins organization after one AHL season since Jake Guentzel in 2017. That’s a definite change in things. The Penguins getting a likely infusion of young talent (Top-9 Level forwards or better) coming up through their system at some point next season is just unchartered waters for the Penguins in the last eight years. And it’s not likely to just be Koivunen and McGroarty upfront.
Talk in the organization is Tristan Broz (17-11-28) with 17 goals in 46 games might be even more NHL-ready right now then Koivunen and McGroarty.
