WEDNESDAY’S PRACTICE BUZZ
Christian Ehrhoff went from working exclusively on the Penguins third pair and second power play in Tuesday’s practice to being the Penguins ninth defenseman in Wednesday’s practice.
Ehrhoff took no rushes among the Penguins top-4 pairings and his limited participation all but signals he’ll be scratched for Game 1 in what is believed to be more of a coaches decision.
Derrick Pouliot was a full participant and is now in contention to play in Game 1 and dress after staying off the ice the past couple days. How he responds after today’s practice, will be a key. Pouliot worked with Taylor Chorney as the Penguins No. 3 pairing.
Updated (1:00 pm) Christian Ehrhoff is out for Game 1 and head coach Mike Johnston would not commit to Pouliot playing in Game 1.
For the Rangers Rick Nash is not practicing today due to the flu, the team announced. Nash led the Rangers with 42 goals.
WILSON GETS MORE LOOKS WITH THIRD LINE
Beau Bennett having a couple decent games down the stretch, doesn’t mean he won’t have a short leash.
There is a very strong possibility that Scott Wilson will draw into the lineup at somepoint in the series.
Wilson and Bennett alternated every other shift during line rushes on the third line with Brandon Sutter and Steve Downie.
PENGUINS LINES
