ESPN is reporting the Miami Dolphins have asked permission to speak to Steelers offensive cordinator Ken Whisenhunt. Sources indicate the Dolphins want to arrange an interview, one that likely would include owner Wayne Huizenga, as quickly as possible, at a site Whisenhunt could select. The coveted coordinator interviewed Thursday with Atlanta Falcons officials in a session that sources said left both sides very impressed. Whisenhunt then flew to Phoenix to meet with the Arizona Cardinals on Friday. Sources have told ESPN that Whisenhunt is the Dolphins top choice unless head coach Bill Cowher would listen to a lucrative offer from owner Wayne Huizenga. With Bill Cowher expected to step down as Steelers coach Friday afternoon, Ken Whisenhunt seems like he would be the ideal fit to replace Cowher but word around the league is the Rooneys prefer Russ Grimm over Ken Whisenhunt.
