Dave Hakstol fired Monday by the Seattle Kraken, rubbed so many Kraken players the wrong way, it’s only enhanced Dan Bylsma’s stock as a candidate for the Kraken job. Ron Francis will be entering year four and hard to say Hakstol wasn’t a successful hire in winning a playoff round in just year two, but everything’s lining up for the next hire to be a players coach which helps Bylsma who has rebuilt his reputation in the AHL with the Kraken’s Affiliate and is very well liked. But, Bylsma surely won’t be the No. 1 target. The full-court press will be on to lure Rod Brind’amour out of Carolina and Seattle has the appetite to make him the NHL’s highest paid coach with a 7 x 7 offer expected to be put on the table. Carolina will not be willing to be able to come close to that number financially.
