Jamie Dixon’s people are notorious for leaking his name out there for various head coaching positions (he doesn’t have interest in) but this time around they are not the ones who have been behind the Dixon to Maryland chatter.
Sources close to Dixon on Saturday night refuted a report that Dixon met with Maryland AD Kevin Anderson in Las Vegas to discuss Maryland’s head coaching position.
While Anderson was in Vegas meeting with Arizona’s Sean Miller (declined the job) who like Dixon was hosting a basketball clinic, no such meeting between Anderson and Dixon took place.
Dixon as expected has shown no interest in the job and will return to Pitt for next season.
On Saturday Dixon received some good news for next season when shooting guard Ashton Gibbs announced on Saturday night that he will return for his senior season.
