Gerrit Cole has second shortest outing of career in 5-2 loss to Reds

The Cincinnati Reds continue to be a thorn in Gerrit Cole’s side. Cole winless in his career vs the Reds, had the second shortest outing of his career tonight in the Pirates 5-2 loss. The Reds put up a 4-run first inning against Cole with two RBI doubles and Marlon Byrd hit a 2-run homer as the Pirates fell behind 4-0 for the second straight night.
Cole lasted just 4.2 innings, allowing 8 hits and 5 runs. Cole exited the game in the fifth inning with the Pirates trailing 5-1 and threw 106 pitches on the night.
Cole fell to 0-3 with a 5.53 ERA in his career vs the Reds. This season vs the Reds, Cole is 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA.
