Insider Only Liriano fans 12 in Pirates rout of Mets

  • Pirates lefty Francisco Liriano (2-4, 3.86 ERA) struck out 12, capping off a historic three game set for the Pirates in a 9-1 win over the Mets this afternoon. The significance for the Pirates was three straight 10 strikeout games from Pirate starters, the first time it’s happened by the Pirates since 1969.
    Liriano allowed 6 hits and 1 run over six innings, while striking out 12 and walking 2. Liriano earning his second win of the season, now boast a 3.86 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 64/23 K/BB ratio in 53 2/3 innings.
